Quiet New Englander, still ill-suited to this format but loving it anyway. Scale modeling, wargaming, history, overly complex PC gaming, jeremiads.

The very first assignment I had in college was contrasting Hobbes' and Rousseau's views on the human being in a state of nature. Decades later it is still a framework I return to, and my answer to which model is the more accurate has changed and will no doubt keep changing.

Slowly hauling myself back to the workbench after work, life, and depression pulled me away. Decided I needed a quick build to pick myself up.

A flippant "just be yourself!" is probably the least helpful advice possible. Do you have any idea how many problems being me has caused for me?

Also, I just won the work NCAA pool on a tiebreaker. Only off by one point. No money, but they'll have to box up their precious trophy and ship it out to Connecticut for me to keep by my workstation.

The play, Caryl Churchill's "Escaped Alone," was quite enjoyable, provided you can handle a somewhat antagonistic viewing experience. I had only seen her first play, "Owners," before, and am glad to know that my antipathy was for either the production or the play itself, not her whole body of work.

Amazing how being up too late receiving good news feels exactly like being up too late receiving bad news when it's time to wake up.
