That's true, but less than 10% of endowments are placed in direct holdings at Columbia. Most of the funds are in hedge funds, etc. The question, at least for Columbia students, is indirect holdings--which the university has refused to disclose.

I agree that the symbolism is the most important. But demanding accountability across the financial system for investments in Israel also has larger financial implications and implications for transparency...
