The point about debt is basically correct. But on Trump's prosecutions—pardoning him *now* would be a bit like the Allied Powers telling Germany in 1915 that any war debts would be forgiven.
You have to weather the crisis first. Then you can figure out magnanimity. We're *still in the crisis*.
