🌱 Giant Sunflower Progress Day 53. Recovering from major, transformative dental surgery this weekend. Want to weed but not supposed bend over too much.
The view from my office just before sunrise on the Willamette River. Mixed age/technical ability Crew here really getting focused on good finish position/posture. #rowing
🌱 Giant Sunflower Progress Day 49. Going to be another scorcher today. Could push 38 C at our house. Fortunately for me, I work in the meat department of our local grocery store and will be chilling out there across the hottest part of the day.
🌱 in the normally temperate wet side of the Pacific NW, this is hot for us. (Old school but accurate analog indoor/outdoor thermometer in our kitchen; though, ignore the incorrect humidity)
🌱 Two of the four varieties were ready and harvested. The other two are still way too green and firm. First harvest count: 36 Killarney Red; 32 Transylvanian. Glad I finished shovel work before 7:15 am. Already heating up.
🌱 Giant Sunflower Progress Day 46. Sun rising and getting my watering done early before I coach Crew while I watch the Henley Royal Regatta live for inspiration. Also, a shot of the garden with the Garlic Patch before I harvest the garlic tomorrow.
Buy Local when you can and keep that money circulating in your community. I get to buy amazing coffee from Cunningham Coffee Roasters here in Portland. I order the 2-lb bag "with art". You give them a topic and their 12-year-old kid creates art on your bag!

🌱 Looks like it's time to harvest the Garlic. Busy tomorrow morning coaching Crew, so will wait until Sunday morning. Suffering through a heat wave so need to keep shovel work to the morning.
