So UK Special Forces vetoed applications from Afghan commandos they’d fought alongside (potentially) because they were worried they the Afghan troops could give evidence against them in the ongoing investigation that Special Forces regularly killed unarmed civilians then planted evidence.
So as well as the original war crimes - and it does seem as though there are strong reasons to believe they happened - they also left troops they fought alongside to die at the hands of the Taliban.
This is why people won't join the military.
Commentators can make as many assessments of paygrades, or working environment, or patriotism, or "woke ads" as they please. As long as the public has it on plain display that militaries are havens for thugs and murderers, nothing else is relevant.
