this attracts them to authoritarian politics too. they firmly believe that *everyone* is just barely restraining themselves from a rampage, and accordingly anyone "dangerous" must be oppressed for the public good
I fully believe there are a lot of men out there that are only kept in check by societal rules and as soon as that check is removed they have no qualms.
