I don't need to crunch numbers to know that buying in bulk saves money.

IIRC, it's been calculated that Americans currently pay nearly twice as much for healthcare that doesn't cover much, & has big copays, as they would for French/UK/Australian style universal healthcare that covers *everyone*.
