and I remember the cops, especially NYPD, crying.

No cops are good.
You need to kill the cop in your head and you need to know what that means.
And you need to know that the enforcers of power are not your friends. And they love fascism.
Fuck Chappelle, but his monologue when Biden won talked about this, it was one of the last sensible things he said. He warned us. Told us to remember what we felt 7 years ago when Trump won. Half the country was feeling that and they've been bidding their time until all their pieces fell in place.
Fuck Biden and his... I don't even have a strong enough word for how stupid his support of Israel is. Fuck everything about that.
But if you want to have a reasonable chance of ever having a meaningful vote in 3 or 5 years. You really have no choice come November and that really fucking sucks.
I remember being in the streets that day. People shoulder-to-shoulder filling an intersection in Fort Greene, spraying Prosecco in the air… when an NYPD car drove through sending a chill through the crowd as it parted to let it pass. But then the cops gave a thumbs up and honked their support.
