Vermont now requires drivers to pass vulnerable road users, including bike riders, with at least four feet of space.
With its new law, all of the states that border New York now have defined safe passage laws. Three out of five extend that protection to all vulnerable road users.
Does this allow police to pull drivers over who pass closer than four feet? 100% support safer laws for cyclists and others but don’t love this if it gives police such arbitrary discretion to pull people over and who knows what after they are pulled over.
