today i heard about a non-technical founder who’s making his engineers use gen ai bc he read a mckinsey report that ai is gonna make everything 30% more efficient so he wants to see those gainz and all i can say is lol if this is true
I bet it’s happening. I’ve heard of companies asking their IT vendors to use AI and drop prices by 30% because they heard of the claimed productivity gains and figured “oh cool there’s a magic productivity button now”
my dad years ago told me that he had learned to insist that any custom software the company bought had to have XML. he had no earthly clue what XML was. after some discussion it transpired that XML was shorthand for "some chance at forward compatibility with new custom systems"
