Roberts et al knew EXACTLY what they were doing - gutting and re-writing the Constitution.
The 6 are crooked but why would they go THAT far?
B/c they know Trump is guilty AF (they're partisan & corrupt not stupid).
They knew if trials proceeded Trump & enablers were finished. And GOP was too.
SCOTUS is stupid in thinking they can rewrite the law to save Trump and the GQP. The more unleashed they get, the worse the backlash against THEM will be. They are NOT going to get away with this.
The backlash will grow into a tidal wave. It remains to be seen how this plays out & whether they get away with it. I'll say this -- for *people who are completely amoral and intellectually dishonest* this was a very logical play. They were fully effed with time running out, so...hail mary pass.
