There's a woodpecker that has taking a liking to the metal awnings above one my windows. Don't ask me why or how, but yeah. I've never related to a bird as much as I do this owl.
Why = woodpecker males drum loudly to get females to come check them out and mate with them. Artificial materials like your awnings enhance their attractiveness by making the best/loudest noise . It is kind of like balding human males who get toupees to artificially enhance their attractiveness.
