TIL that "the shadow realm" is a censorship/translation thing and in Japanese Yugioh they're just straight up "I'm gonna kill your dad"

and the Shadow Realm gradually accumulated all this lore that absolutely is not in the original show, I kind of love it as a weird localization curiosity.
