I think perhaps tyranny arises when we become so disconnected from the inner 'authority' (felt in the Heart) that we start to seek outer authorities and become dependent upon them.

The bridge from 'I' to 'We' is built of devotion. It can be devotion to kindness, to peace, to helping others, to listening, to humanity, to nature, to the Divine, to anything that we might consider greater than ourselves.

From my notes: Zadie Smith, in a 2016 interview in Slate, talking about Ursula Le Guin. I also feel the richness of Ursula's life in her work, but I don't know about "overwhelming." She explored her experience through male and nonbinary characters, too, and I love the balance that creates.
