Just saw a Japanese Youtuber saying they read 1000 manga volumes a year. This might not be uncommon in Japan, if you're an avid manga reader. Personally, I don't think that's much better than watching anime at 2x speed.

Last time I was in Japan, I visited a friend who had recorded an episode of the Ooku live-action. She "watched" it skipping everything until her favorite actress appeared on screen. This is when I felt despair and knew there was such a thing as a generation gap.

I can't get over how evil they made my boy Kyogre look in the manga.

I always thought it was ridiculous how overprized anime DVDs/Blu-rays are in Japan. Now I saw a Japanese review under an English Monogatari Blu-ray. They bought it, because it was cheapter than in Japan.

Morning Read: Waru by Fukami Jun. Good reminder, that there is a whole genre of manga about workplace politics in corporate Japan. The art style is extremely simple, maybe due to the genre, but the cover and chapter title art is absolutely gorgeous (love the video game references).
