I was extremely lucky that at my *very first* writing con, a more established writer with zero fucks came up to the newbie table to chat about the things we need to know that never came up and like 5 minutes in was like "and these are the missing stairs"
The thing about whisper networks is that they don't reach all potential victims, and it's often the ones who are left out who are most vulnerable. The newbies in the scene/industry. The unpopular ones. The ones who don't have a lot of connections.
Of course, when I tried to pay it forward recently, there was a friend of one of the sex pests present who decided to make it awkward ๐ And this is also a problem with whisper networks
