The last few years have really shown how naive and optimistic political thrillers are.
Plotline after plotline telling us the powerful will be done for if their secrets get out while in reality they're just doing the laziest most blatant murders.
Would be insanely stupid to commit one of the very few crimes for which rich ppl actually fave consequences to prevent the collapse of Boeing, which would probably leave execs with nice golden parachutes
On the other hand
Right!? I mean the damage is already done bc he already gave his deposition, so they still have that, but they killed him anyways as soon as they could. I bet Boeing bribes the cops to do a shit job investigating his death, leading it to being an unsolved cold case for decades.
I haven't written a novel yet about a whistleblower, but if I do, the bad guys will get to him BEFORE he blows the whistle. Unless it's a dark comedy. Hmmm... see y'all in a couple months!
friend IRL worked at said company and after he escaped to another job he told me an anecdote about him fighting the corporate culture by threatening to whistleblow. This would have been about 15 years ago. I remember thinking holy shit that place is run by Koolaid MBAs™ and sociopaths.
