Peekaboo! A Tarantula hawk wasp is nectaring on milkweed blooms at the local Park. #inverts Southern California 1 of 2

This is the same wasp. 1st photo shows that nice blue green iridescence 😍 I believe this is a female (don’t sting me PLEASE!), it’s big (around 2 inches). Females should have curly antennae but they are not in the 1st photo. Curl at will? None of the wasps seen were aggressive, close phone shots. 🌿🐝

This is one of my favorite parasitoids. So beautiful. Thank you for sharing. Resplendent

They are really cool. Very rarely get to see their host arachnid, but when this milkweed plant blooms, the wasps are right there.
