You can absolutely oppose a crap design of a bike lane that is nothing more than performative safety (see: so many early implementations of paint-on-pavement lanes in the District and other cities), but then propose something better that's still a bike/micromobility lane - it's not difficult!
I walk by this bike lane on M Street when I go to Nats games. I see someone using it almost every time. I saw a man using it with his mobility scooter.
