To celebrate #OrcaActionMonth we highlighted famous KWs including the shark liver eating duo Port & Starboard! Their flopped over dorsal fins may be caused by lack of calcium in their diets…time to grab some milk to wash down those livers! 🥛 🦴 Graphic: Emma Luck #SharkWeek #WhaleTales

#OrcaFacts: Scientists studying BC’s Offshore KWs noticed that their teeth were very worn down which led to them to hypothesize that they were feeding on rough skinned sharks This was later confirmed to be their primary source of food. 📸 Slater Moore #WhaleTales #OrcaActionMonth

It's #OrcaActionMonth & #FunFactFriday. #DYK Orcas can be found in and around every island in the Galapagos year-round but they are very unpredictable? They are seen in small groups, never larger than 10 individuals. They seem to be generalist hunters, preying on sea lions, turtle, rays & fish.

#OrcaActionMonth is almost over! Wherever you live in the world there are many ways that you can help protect the SRKWs. Choosing sustainable seafood, especially salmon is a great place to start & reducing plastic & disposing waste properly helps all marine life. Photo by Gary #TalesOfSavingWhales

#OrcaFacts: Though socially distinct now, it is highly likely that the populations of KWs in Iceland & Norway were once one super-population specializing in herring. Unfortunately, since the collapse of the Atlanto-Scandian herring stock there have been no records of interaction. #OrcaActionMonth
