I'm not defending or minimizing his actions. Being an actual Nazi or being part of an imperialist war machine (and doing god knows what in service of it), for example, are also very bad things. There aren't a lot of characters available here though, so I must abstract with my language sometimes.

It's upsetting to be painted as a villain or apologist for having even slightly nuanced opinions about what is or isn't productive when discussing something that happened TO ME
Context for this take: I was sexually exploited online as a kid, and there may well be CSAM of me floating around out there, so I find it especially frustrating when people seemingly just internalize/imitate the damage control strategies of megacorps as if that somehow benefits those in my position.
I have to admit that there's a post in me regarding Morrison's approach to DOOM PATROL and Jones' own interpretation of it in one of his Justice League comics, re: what GM's work looked like to the "superhero norm" creators of the time, but avoided it for Those Reasons.
I have probably discussed GJ more times than most, mostly in the context of "we had him for a signing at the old shop," but there is this feeling of unease, and my continued apologies for even bringing him up.
Shouldn't be ignored, because he had a huge amount of output and influence at the time, but any discussion of him has to have that asterisk attached to it.
