Yep. This is the business model. The firm does presentations to lots of gullible school boards, promising them riches at no risk. I bet their presentation is very slick.

And then they just collect nuisance settlements?

I’m sure they can claim a “reasonable likelihood of prevailing” without breaking a smile.

A few settlements will probably be enough to cover their nut, and then some.

As the school board has no skin in the game, ultimately this is merely a legal positioning exercise (bet) that the law firms are using a.. what’s the right term? Patsy? to run a case?

Well, the school board isn’t doing it for money and probably isn’t paying costs. The district has standing. The allegations, if proven, seem actionable. And social media companies should be liable if they know or should know that their algorithm is promoting suicidal content to depressed teens.

Ah, now I understand why there’s signs to oust the DPD school board all over here. We also made the brilliant decision to elect an 18 year old to the board not 5 years ago, I wonder if this is related
