(((Eddie))): I've seen plenty of magical thinking with "The Secret", crystal healing, auras, etc. that have squat to do with the Christian right. I can believe that it's a factor but I'd have a hard time believing it's a dominant factor.

I have a theory that the evangelical Christian right, Catholic & Protestant, with their literal interpretation of biblical texts, are peculiarly vulnerable to this sort of magical thinking, because they already accept miracles and magic as literal truth Leads to this totally irrational crap

I feel like crystals have a leg up on god since they actually exist.

I didn’t say they had a monopoly of this nonsense. But unfortunately they are in power across much of the US atm And that is rather terrifying, even on this side of the Atlantic
