This is a great piece, and as someone who went to journalism school for a year and a half I've had a lot of difficulty explaining to friends and the family things about the news some of the things y'all lay out here so well.

Journalism as a work product doesn't act in the way individuals might wish that it did as a matter of process, and that's a big part of gives it societal value. And you're totally right! That's weird! Kudos to @rcmacleod.bsky.social for this one
