Great Crested Flycatcher (Myiarchus crinitus) on the Colliers Wilderness Road, Grand Cayman. Not one we see here very often but they will hang out on Monk Parakeet nests on the eastern part of the island. #birds

Wow, that's the spitting image of our Asbjorn (Azzy)! Is she a Norwegian Forest Cat? She's beautiful, look at that face, but I may be biased!

Cape Barren Goose (Cereopsis novaehollandiae novaehollandiae) Tasmanian subspecies, Descent Beach near Doo Town (Google it, it's a goofy tourist attraction), Eaglehawk Neck, Tasmania. Tasman's Arch is also nearby as is Shipsterns Bluff for you surfers. #birds

I post a lot from Tasmania, my wife did research there and I had clients (later great friends) there so we visit 1 or 2 times a year and have for 20+yrs now. Tassie is a wonderful place, a lot like Maine in the states with interesting critters, great local folks, and without the harsh winters

Looks like this female Hooded Merganser is trying for that same look! They dive for forage in the canal up in Amityville, NY #birds

Bananaquit (Coereba flaveola) here this morning outside my window (Grand Cayman). I have posted these guys before but this guy was so kind to pose for me I had to post him. #birds

Tawny Frogmouth (Podargus strigoides) fledglings found by hiker and brought to rehab center, Taroona, Tasmania. Raised and released 2023. #birds

Exactly, and when a candidate for Governor endorsed by a failed ex POTUS says "Some people need killing" it's just harmless rhetoric, when someone says that same failed ex POTUS is a threat to Democracy it directly leads to assassination attempts that's just a damn fact baby. Magat logic vote blue

Another very unusual sighting, she was on the feeder in Amityville New York 2019 and I wasn't sure what it was but after much consideration determined it was a Painted Bunting (middle), I posted it on eBird, it was seen the next day in Queens and not again in NY that year. #birds

Shiny Cowbird (Molothrus bonariensis) Seen here on Grand Cayman. Not a bird we see very often, I thought it was a Ching Ching at first. Native to most of South America it may have stowed away on a fishing boat or cruise ship or been blown here in a storm. #birds

It's amazing that that individual, who may not have had a language as we know it, and used tools he made that were not much harder than the stone he carved it from, did it so well, 32,000 years later I couldn't do it with all the modern tools in existence and a teacher there to help me.

Unless they're Stag Beetles then they're just big!

Blue-gray Gnatcatcher (Polioptila caerulea) Coronado National Memorial, Arizona. Seems birds catch everything, flies, gnats, you name it!😉 #birds

Scarlet Flycatcher (Pyrocephalus rubinus) in Parque Bartolomé Hidalgo, Uruguay. Not the best image but he was quite far away. Too bad as it's a cool looking critter. #birds

The Neuland Colony is an amazing place, near Filadelfia, Paraguay in the Gran Chaco, we ate at a quite nice Chinese restaurant while everyone else there spoke Plautdietsch and the menu and a newspaper on the table was in German. Here's a link to it's wiki en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neuland...

Spot-winged Falconet (Spiziapteryx circumcincta) at the Aduanas Border Crossing Station, Bolivia. We saw many of these on both sides of the border, they hunt among other things Monk Parakeets which are not that much smaller than they are. #birds

Herring Gull (Larus argentatus) on the left, Ring-billed Gull (Larus delawarensis) on right. Both in Amityville N.Y. My wife will walk out back and hold up a peanut and they show up out of nowhere. #birds

400,000 were tattooed at Auschwitz, the largest, and there were 22 other main concentration camps most of which had a system of satellite camps. With the smaller subcamps there were over 1,000 camps. Fuck this guy and all who think he has something to say worth listening to. Vote Blue

Saffron Finch (Sicalis flaveola) on Makalei Golf Club, Big Island Hawaii. Something about yellow birds today! Interesting and clearly successful evolutionary path. #birds

American Goldfinch (Spinus tristus) swarming the feeder in Mt. Sinai New York. I love the way they fly, 2 or 3 wing beats then drop down and repeat like a flat sine wave. State bird of New Jersey, Iowa, and Washington. Maybe a house finch getting some as well #birds

Greater Rhea (Rhea americana araneipes) on a road side estancia along the Ruta Transchaco N.W. Paraguay #birds

I like to go into town where the fisherman sell the days catch and grab a kilo of fresh tuna, it's amazing, all you need is a sharp knife to slice off some sashimi, no need for rice or wasabi. I am apparently not the only one who likes to see what's on offer! Brother can you spare a slice! #birds

Narrow-billed Woodcreeper (Lepidocolaptes angustirostris) in Teniente Agripino Enciso N.P. Paraguay Sorry, not the best images, tough lighting! #birds

Didn't realise I had this image as well, same bird same place. #birds This one gives a way to distinguish them from the Double Crested Cormorant, note the pointed beak as opposed to the Cormorants hook tipped beak
