Anyone considering starting betting on next Conservative leader can usefully think about laying favourites. This looks like being a fairly lengthy race and my guess is that some who will be serious contenders aren't on anyone's radar yet.
Kemi Badenoch would be a serious mistake. The Conservatives need a leader who can show the general public that they are going to listen and change. Her default mode is spiky attack. She would only make things worse.
If you must back rather than lay, look for clean shirts with some heft. Claire Coutinho, John Glen and Danny Kruger are all worth considering backing, given their current odds.
