Yeah, that's a shame, Ashworth was generally a pretty good guy. More broadly Labour are clearly getting hit from the left more than they expected. Likely it won't hit the majority too much, it likely won't affect more than a single figure number of seats. But it's still notable.
I do wonder if, with the exception of where the left challengers are the Greens, this might have been something the national polls might have struggled to pick up on @stephenkb.bsky.social?
Also, just in general, a disparate collection of local independents and minor parties seems inherently hard to account for in national polling numbers.
