Balcony garden update!
Spicy pepper has been added to the flower pots!
We shall see if it helps.
A bunch still have protective mesh over them, but I'll be taking it off soon because the seedlings aren't happy.
Toaster is FULL of seedlings.
And I got new blue flowers for the bees.
I see your toaster and offer up my kettle. Last year it held straw flowers but they did not thrive, i didn't think the morning glories through though, as they have to stretch to find something to hold on to.
I love it!
Hmm... wonder if my dead kettle would work for this...
Is yours formerly electric or was it a stovetop variety?
And did you have to drill drainage holes?
The toaster is great because if you remove the crumb catcher it's got perfect drainage!
It is a stove top flat bottomed one. I dont think i even drilled a hole, it has a bunch of gravel in the bottom. I figured the opening was small in portion to the body that it would not get too swampy.
I'm hoping it works!
It's only like a 3-4 on the Scoville scale (it's gochugaru b/c No Frills had big bags for a good price) but there may be something spicier in their Sundar spices collection... if needed.
Or I can grind up a couple habaneros.
are they just digging, or also nibbling on the plants? You can make hot pepper "tea" and spray plants with it (get the absolute nastiest hottest peppers you can find) maybe spray the soil too? the plants won't care
Hmm... that's an interesting idea.
The squirrel occasionally messes with the plants, but mostly it's digging in the soil that's a problem.
I've gone out to discover craters and sometimes tunnels all the way to the bottom!
... that inevitably are stuffed with peanuts and sunflower seeds.
