Also, if there is another example of a Texas governor pardoning someone for murder, I haven't been able to find it.
Tangent: "another example": you might look up Governor Miriam "Ma" Ferguson. She's the whole reason we have a board of paroles and pardons in Texas: she pardoned literally thousands of people.
She was elected after her husband was impeached and barred from office in Texas.
