Jesus. I didn't realize that the Texas pardon board waived its own requirements in order to give Abbott his pardon of Daniel Perry. Also, if there is another example of a Texas governor pardoning someone for murder, I haven't been able to find it.

It’s purge season in Texas, libs are the target

Usually Texas governors send people to Death Row. Pardoning a murderer is entirely out of character.

That's because Daniel murdered someone that the governor is happy killing. Had to make sure people knew that some people are legal to murder.

During the days of Bleeding Kansas there were pro-slavery judges who would let border ruffians who murdered abolitionists out on bail knowing full well they would disappear.

Between Abbott pardoning a literal murderer and Trump promising pardons for other criminals, if Democrats can’t spin themselves as the party of law, order, and justice so help me…

It's not easy to convince stupid, brainwashed people. Turns out way too many people actually quite comfortable with fascism.

I don’t think people who claim they value LO&J actually do. I think they’re in love with the idea of the white masculine-coded vigilante. Even white leftists’ infatuation with John Brown (and liberals’ embrace of Dark Brandon) is part of that fantasy.

I didn't know they had requirements. I figured they could just do whatever, but would love to know what they bypassed to hand Abbott that awful shit.

And when the guy kills again, they will applaud

I'm actually surprised Kyle Rittenhouse hasn't killed again.

One of the most disgusting things I’ve ever seen happen in politics. Vile people pushing the world to a much darker place.

Abbots a criminal, what'd you expect from him. Everyone's afraid of him,so they just do as he says.

The worst example yet of ignoring the law or any sense of morality in order to score political points.

Google Trump and Eddie Gallagher

Back in lynching days, Texas could count on juries to acquit murderers.

That is incredibly fucked up.

so where's the gun people who said they needed an arsenal to protect against tyranny? it appears most of them are perfectly fine with tyranny.

This will embolden the wakos.

In the documentary, "The Jinx," Dick DeGuerin says that lawyers in Texas have a saying, "In Texas, we hang horse thieves and let murders go."

I’m not finding the requirements they waived. Can you point to a source? Not doubting or anything, just curious about the specifics.

Just as bad as The Orange Menace and his pardon of a murderous Navy SEAL whose own fellow operators turned in.

murderer pedophile, by the looks of it

Tangent: "another example": you might look up Governor Miriam "Ma" Ferguson. She's the whole reason we have a board of paroles and pardons in Texas: she pardoned literally thousands of people. She was elected after her husband was impeached and barred from office in Texas.

This incident is just a shocking rejection of the rule of law. The case was politicized from the get go.
I am trying to figure out how Abbott will spin this when this dude kills someone else. I am guessing he will blame the members of the Parole Board.
