One question — it came up on Pod Save — is why Biden's team wanted an early debate, if they didn't think he was doing well.
Unfortunately, one answer could be, "Because they know he's going downhill and worried he'd be much worse in the fall."
That's what they said about this one too. I was pretty sure it would go forward because neither of them could afford to back out.
Why wouldn't Trump want it, considering what happened in the first one? And if Biden backs out, that will be a big red flag.
