The Democratic Party had a primary in 2023-2024 the same as it had in any other election cycle. The only “they” who gave Biden the nomination are the voters. Kind of weird to defend the “popular will” of a poll as more sacrosanct than the popular will of voters in an election.
February 2023. This is the moment they decided to ignore popular will and hold a coronation of a damaged and declining candidate. They depended on Trump being worse to manufacture consent for a historically unpopular candidate.

There are good reasons why incumbent presidents don't typically face real primary challengers, but let's not pretend he stood for a real primary in 2023-2024. An election requires more than one candidate with even the slightest chance of winning.

That’s not how elections work. The fact that Diane DeGette hasn’t gotten less than 60% of the vote in the CO-1st in any election this century doesn’t invalidate that there is an election every two years and she wins legitimately. Even when no one in the GOP is a sacrificial lamb to lose to her

I'm not sure using an example from a district gerrymandered to ensure victory for one candidate proves the point you're trying to prove.

Bernie Sanders has won all three Senate terms by 30%, does that make him an illegitimate Senator because he won by too much?
