begging people to know the difference between an yglesias-type and the outright trolls who are showing up now and just block the latter. you can't 'get to' them because all they want is engagement plus they legit want you to hate them
at the same time having a bigoted troll poke their head up and seeing the *entire app* lay into them is a pretty cool thing for trans people to see right now
true BUT it also means trans people have to see those assholes' bigotry. i'm cishet so not my place to say if one outweighs the other; my only point is that tactically, a bunch of people telling yglesias he's an asshole has an effect, whereas it absolutely does not for the straight-up trolls
I didn't say it should be a broad strategy, rather that in the early growth and formative stages of the app seeing the *collective* rejection of a transphobe is a valuable display of sentiment off the back of an app where you cant post anything pro-trans without a horde of bigots come barking at you
oh for sure! i didn’t mean to be argumentative and hope i didn’t come across that way. i just hate those fucking people and want them to go away as quickly as possible
yep. this guy is clearly getting off on it and people are just reposting his empty vileness left and right. like. he clearly came here to do this. it's like he went to a chipotle and ordered a burrito bowl. this is what he wants.
Honestly the public blocklist will do wonders so blocking people is like the ultimate down vote. On twitter people got quote-tweet dunked into fame and positions of power.
Rewarding the worst people with clout (even if its infamy) doesn’t help us
