In lieu of going to Reddit, I'll ask an "Am I the Asshole" question here - water main to our apartment building burst, management works on repairing the main but does jack shit to help residents in the nearly 24-hours in between, gets huffy when we get mad, "what do you expect us to do?"

Maybe I'm not being communicative enough or have out of whack standards but if all water to the building is broken, maybe your first instinct should be to go out and buy some water, have it in a common area, and tell residents they can use it? Is this an unrealistic expectation?

I mean unrealistic in the sense of "are most property managers this inconsiderate", not "should this be the baseline moral standard".

Sadly, most landlords are willing to let their tenants live in conditions that they would never live in for themselves or their families.
