I get the urge to go "Look at this awful front page ad! Now, NZME's shareholders are these mining companies..." but honestly I reckon the process was as conspiratorial as "...you want to to book the whole front page?! OMG OK!" The fact we are in the Newspaper End Times still isn't quite landing.

Thank you, bold neighbourhood leaders who know for sure what colour bins we are putting out this week. Yours in heartfelt appreciation, A rubbish sheep.

How the heck did we end up with "foul play" as a euphemism for murdering someone? Which happy toddler boisterously kicking a ball around straight up killed a man?

the subtitles "i hate you" will not stop displaying when i watch prime. turned them on and off again. action, drama, romance.... whatever i watch, i just have the words "i hate you" looking back at me. it's starting to affect the viewing experience & also my perception of myself

True story: I made my intermediate school chess team for our multi-day sports exchange to Timaru, but then teachers told me that wasn't enough to justify a spot on the bus, so now I was also on the table tennis team (I'd literally never played). So I salute NZ's relatable Olympic canoeist heroes.

Do we think the NZ government is aware that is operating at literal cartoon evil levels?

Man, you can really still see the piles of fresh soil and displaced grass from JK Rowling burrowing alllllllll the way down the rabbit hole, huh.

People get down on what Facebook has become these days, but without it I might easily go a couple of weeks without being reminded that my friend Emma likes Subway.

I'm going to ultimately decide this is more evidence to add to the pile I've already seen for the case that the streamers don't bother with proofreading, but also it almost works?

I don't get to bring the Outsider Perspective to many things in my life I guess, but I'll tell you one thing from an area where I can: you have no idea how weird you all are about cars.

Presumably this CrowdStrike thing can be traced back to one person who did or didn't do something, and that person must be having some feelings about now.

Sometimes thundering posts about how All Of BlueSky Is Bad or Approved Ways To Block float past me out of context, and I imagine the feeling is likely similar to what Britons living in a quiet Northumberland village in 200AD felt when news randomly reached them the senators had been arguing in Rome.

I suspect what the at this point *truly ridiculous* haters of "woke" Star Wars seethe about the very most is the knowledge that for all their rage and noise, the world has just left them behind. screenrant.com/star-wars-th...

Oh no.
When an article says "some scientists think" then remember this: I, a scientist, once thought I could fit a whole orange in my mouth. I could, it turns out, get it in there, but I hadn't given sufficient thought to the reverse operation.

If you want an ideal snapshot of the contradictory concepts of media that people hold now, here's the Taxpayer's Union arguing Facebook shouldn't have to pay trad media for content because trad media sucks, and then ONE PARAGRAPH LATER warning how it would suck to have no news on your timeline.

How easy would it really be to live (say) 300 years on Earth as a vampire without, in all that time, being caught out in the sun *once*?
