As long as they pay AFTER the official act is completed and not a second before.

Not if you're that blunt about it. Now, if you're generous, and I reciprocate, that's fine, especially if you do the official act before being paid.

So you couldn't bring the bribe into evidence... you literally couldn't prosecute it

That’s how this seems as described. Any official presidential acts can’t be used as evidence, so all you could accuse the president of doing would be accepting a large donation. He could literally insist on the money up front instead of as a “gratuity” and it would be legal.

They’re not allowed to look into his motives, so it seems like the bribe would be legal - but that’s consistent, the Roberts Court is the most pro-bribery court in American history
