Mark Rothko is a great painter whose work *literally* must be experienced in person to appreciate its effect. The Rothko Chapel is one of the most hushed spaces I've ever set foot in.

Not pedantic. I love them too. And they are SO BIG in real life. I remember the first time I went to the Albright Knox in Buffalo and saw a whole bunch of them and I was just awestruck

It’s strange how American Expressionists don’t get big shows over where you are. Sure there’s stuff in galleries but not the big retrospectives.
