I really wish we could get the political will in Winnipeg to make change like this happen. It's not even that I want to emulate a city that's as far ahead of us as Montreal. I just want visible progress of any kind, but instead we're spending billions widening routes to literally gain a few seconds.

I live near one of the pedestrianized streets, and it's a wonderful initiative. Sure, there have been growing pains, esp in the trendiest neighborhoods, over the years, but it's really becoming part of the city summer culture.

My dream is that they eventually get rid of Lake Shore Drive in Chicago
It's nice to read something good about this....it seems like every one in Montreal wants the mayor's head for making these changes!
