UK falling behind EU pesticide standards. 36 pesticides permitted for use in UK but not EU, despite govt promises to maintain standards post-Brexit. The list of pesticides allowed includes 12 classified as carcinogens and 9 endocrine disruptors (EDCs) which can cause birth defects.

“The UK is becoming the toxic poster child of Europe. The government has repeatedly promised that our environmental standards won’t slip post-Brexit & yet here we are less than 4 years later, & already we’re seeing our standards fall far behind those of the EU" 1/ Nick Mole, Policy Officer, PAN UK

"With UK bees and other pollinators in decline, and our waters never more polluted, now is the time to be taking steps to protect nature. Instead, the government is choosing to expose British wildlife to an ever-more toxic soup of chemicals.” 2/ Nick Mole, Policy Officer, PAN UK

Agree wholeheartedly. But we KNEW the Tory Brexit government didn’t want to be curtailed from their ecocide & lowering of all standards in public life. They couldn’t pump sewage into our precious chalk streams or send refugees to Rwanda if we were still protected by EU laws.

Yes, it's always been on the Tory agenda to slash standards and allow wholesale pollution. Apart from on social media, the subject fails to attract enough media attention though.
