Videos might come, but that will probably be last. Video is a heavy infrastructure investment in both bandwith and storage. Even Twitter to this day still has issues with video uploads.

This is true, plus app pofomance would be more beneficial than adding videos in the apps current state.

I don't know if I agree with that, given this feels like Fisher-Price's My First Social Media.

if ppl want video they can go to tiktok. i hope bsky stays v-free as long as possible.

Mastodon has videos uploads. If you want to attract general adoption you'll need video uploads. Also, compression for video files has become a lot more efficient.

And it will become even more efficient as AV1 gets rolled out

There are also moderation issues (copyright, suggestive, illegal content, etc). It's plain to see why they have a linked player to YouTube, etc as those sites are better equipped to handle all that stuff.

There's also other features that I'd really like that Twitter doesn't even have. My idea is a featured Threads Tab where someone could pin all their most important posts on their profile.

I would say I prefer no videos here, just like the primordials of social networks, the small texts and pics make me feel old school I guess lol

You can directly embed tenor, giphy, vimeo, and several other sites to stick GIFs or videos on. For Tenor make sure to copy the "Share URL" box, not the 🔗 button URL. For Giphy copy the whole page URL or the "Copy Clip Link" button. Either way, paste URL, hit "Add Card" then delete the URL. :D

Unfortunately, direct gif upload isn't supported yet (but is planned for the future). For the moment, if you copy and paste a Giphy or Tenor link the gif will show up embedded, like this:

can you fix the bug in the (android) app where you're trying to scroll with your left hand, but it jumps to the top most recent posts. Really irritating if you're a ways down your feed.
