Exciting boring update in Trump trial—the jury has a note!

The jury note contains 4 requests: (1) David Pecker testimony regarding phone convo during investor meeting, (2) Pecker Testimony related to McDougal's life rights agreement, (3) Pecker testimony regarding Trump Tower meeting, and (4) Cohen testimony regarding Trump Tower meeting (via Anna Bower)

Kyle Cheney jumps on the speculation train early, but why not: "Apply all the caveats here, but first instinct is this is not welcome news for Trump. Prosecutors spent a lot of their lengthy close focusing on value of Pecker's testimony. This is the roadmap they asked jurors to follow."

Thinking about juror notes gives me hives. I always hated waiting for a verdict. It's funny that we're all doing this collectively as a nation.

Memory so vivid it is almost a flashback. “On the one hand, they are thinking about the case, as I asked them to. On the other hand, this stuff they asked for is not what we want them talking about.”

As someone from a country that does not have juries at all the whole jury thing is both fascinating and horrifying.

Is Trump required to be in the courthouse while they deliberate? Even if it takes days?

Apparently! That's unusual; generally defendants can leave and get a sandwich or something, as long as they're close enough to run back on short notice. @mitchellepner.bsky.social thinks it's because of the security issues with getting Trump in/out of the courthouse.

As a former defense lawyer, while the jury was out was one of the few times I had hope. Different kind of hope this time.
