Prisoners in Florida are forced to work grueling jobs under threat of solitary confinement or worse — and they are not paid for the work they do. Meanwhile, they are charged $50 a day and have to pay to buy toiletries and food. They leave prison in debt. www.theguardian.com/us-news/arti...

But they ALSO can’t get their voting rights back until that debt is paid because of the bs interpretation of Amendment 4

But yet an absolute arsehole with multiple felonies can run for president.

Which is probably exactly why FLA is doing this so released prisoners can't vote. I think I am sick now... very sick.

The American prison system needs raised to the ground. It's privatised abuse of poor people.

How sick is this! The idea of a prison sentence is to prepare the inmates for life after incarceration
Avatar
Well it's Florida, so the idea of a prison sentence is entirely to be as cruelly punitive as possible no matter the consequences for wider society

Florida and Texas are the two most evil places in this county. If hell exists, the people responsible would be sent to the lowest level.

slavery still exists in the US

oof. Some conservatives figured... there's a captive consumer group with no choice and no ability to fight back. Cause the outsourced video call scam wasn't enough. Unbelievable.

What's wrong with that? There's no chance that system will lead to higher and more violent crime rates. /s

And can continue to be charged that $50 a day, even after their release, if they're released early. It's horrific

I thought this tenured slavery of prisoners had stopped. No surprise it FLA doing this inhumane stuff to people
