getting the sinking feeling that rooting for the USMNT and being a Texas A&M football fan are the same emotional arc

So if the USMNT had a home game on J6, they'd show up?

Aggies would never lose to Panama.

They've lost 5 games to Centenary.

Haven't beaten them in 85 years either.

Think they restarted the football program if y'all want to relive the 1939 glory days.

2002 World Cup win over Portugal in which they went up 3-0 in the first half against a pre-tournament favorite, the only time I’ve seen them run rampant over quality competition. Held on to win 3-2 and ended up in the quarters. 22 years later still the peak.

The Spain to first half of Brazil in the Confederations Cup, and Landon’s goal in 2010 <- I think my peak moment watching televised sports

The craziest thing of 2009 was needing a damn miracle just to get out of the group on a tiebreaker before beating Spain and then going up 2-0 on Brazil (and then Brazil realized they were Brazil)

I’d look more to 2002 if we’re going that far back.

That 2009 run made me believe that better things were possible (and then Charlie Davies got in that car crash and it went off the rails)

Ryan please don't do this to me

I’d say it’s more like being an Iowa fan in that they’re decent, but never great, and there’s a good chance they’ll win a game 2-0.

This is fun, but I would look at it this way: who win’s their conference ~50% of the time. And the conference is the the weakest of the Power 5. And doesn’t win the big one. So ACC or PAC-12 (RIP). Clemson or Oregon?

Only seeing this now but if there’s more generational trauma out there for me to claim lemme at it
