Most pundits thought Le Pen and her far-right coalition would take over today. The polls just closed in France, and it’s clear they were soundly beat. It’s almost like the pundit class does a lot of talking out of their ass.
Still people need to go out and vote. Maybe all their talking made people who would otherwise have stayed home go out and try to make a difference to avoid the far right taking power.
Preventing the RN from taking the most seats required more than 200 candidates to drop out strategically. The RN still actually got the most votes of any party (with an even higher share than in round 1!). The effect of the voting alliance was not properly calculated, that's all. No "all clear".
