On the one hand, I like wearing a beard. On the other, I think it makes me look 10 years older than…however old I look (I’m 54). Thinking of growing it out but am unsure. What say ye?
I just shaved my facial hair and the universal response is "you look a *lot* younger".
But *I* think I look like a doofus.
And I don't actually value 'looking young' - regardless of my (grey) beard, I'll be 45, not 35 or 55.
So my vote is, "go for the one you like better and damn the torpedoes."
Hah! Well, I _did_ just ask "what say ye?" and not for a specific vote on beard or no beard. Are you my oh-my-godding because you've never seen me with a beard? Which do you like better, if either?

My first thought was no no no no no. It does make you look older! But now, I'm in a disagreement with myself about it, so I'll have to get back to you when we make a decision.
