The thing I think we need to internalize is that voting is in fact a huge part of how you fix this problem. It’s just that I get the sense a lot of people think “voting” only consists of the presidency
No, you have to vote in every election on every level. That’s how you start to change a party
Assuming you know anything about the candidates! I don't usually vote in school board elections, but before I moved, I tried to figure out who stood for what and it was impossible. No info on the web.
I voted in the mayoral election against the incumbent, who won anyway, bc there was info.
Honestly yeah, this is a big problem I’ve run into in my own local elections. Candidates for more local races have absolutely dismal levels of info out there about their positions, it’s a serious issue and I’m not sure how to address it other than to encourage younger people to run
I was interested bc one candidate's mailer suggested she was anti-mask (this was in 2022) but I couldn't find info, and didn't get mailers from, most candidates. Felt like those w/o children or contact w/schools had no way of knowing anything.
