As a chem TA, one of the most valuable things I ever did with struggling students in office hours was have them narrate for me how they would solve a problem, and then figure out what it was they weren’t getting.
That’s how you get the lightbulb moments.
This is a by product of many things. Including a complete disregard for any and all education and cognition research done in the last 30 years.
One of many reasons why, after 28 yrs in a college classroom, I answered the ask to be an administrator.
