This weeks thread:
Music and AI.
I think I mentioned six months back that I have a New Year’s resolution to write a song and get it on a major streaming platform before December 31st.
About that.
I’ve had Apple Logic kicking around for as long as I remember. I like tinkering with it. But never learned to use it to a better potential.
So in January I bought a book by Marco Perino and fixed the gaps in my understanding.
By end of January I had a demo.
The demo literally sounded like it was out of the 1970s. I had been listening a lot to “Diamond Head” by Phil Manzanera. And Bowie…. The song was totally influenced.
Except I wanted a more kicking bass.
In the search for more bass, I turned to synth. By March this was fully electronic. More like Pet Shop Boys demo.
But I was not happy. So, I tinkered more.
My problem is twofold: 1) I could sing as a kid, and the BBC broadcasted proof of that, but once my voice broke my luck ran out. 2) I can hear an idea in my head, but I’m a three chord cowboy with instruments.
Then Apple dropped its latest Logic Pro update. It’s got session musicians. So, if I stipulate the chord progressions, I can drop in a better bassist, or better keyboard player.
This changed the game.
I was beginning to worry half way through the year that I might not meet my deadline. Now the music is done. And I’m happy.
That leaves one issue. My voice.
