Did a speed run practice at lock picking. The Master Lock paradox strikes again!

For anyone not aware of the Master Lock paradox. The red plastic lock is that one I couldn’t pick tonight. In the row of opens, are American 1100 and even an Abus Titalium. But the cheap plastic $20 lock wouldn’t open.

For years, people have argued that if you take a $10 laminated steel cheap Master Lock and put the 6-pin high security core from this impossibly cheap LOTO (lock out tag out) into it, you’d have a $15 lock that rivals locks in 3-figure price ranges.

This lock, as it stands, is designed to stop people being killed when working in dangerous spaces like machinery and such. Which is concerning given it’s plastic.

So the paradox is the most secure lock core that locksport people first often run across isn’t even in a lock designed for security. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
