I know they're brainstorming and floating trial balloons, and it's not like I know exactly what to do, but there are clearly people in the Democratic Party who are too stupid to live, let alone operate a campaign or govern.

The entire Uruguay bench giving the fourth official agita as a terrible and contentious 90 minutes draws to a scoreless close is, in its way, what the Copa America is all about.

Been cooking my way through Six Seasons and while everything is quite good, the pasta recipes positively rip. Linguine with snap peas, pancetta, and cacio e pepe butter. Pasta alla Norma with eggplant and cherry tomatoes. Incredible shit.

Really? I must suffer Real Madrid Bullshit even at an international tournament?

The Dems should be trying to drastically restructure government—packing the court, disempowering it, getting rid of the senate and/or electoral college—in order to preserve any semblance of democracy we have left, but they're worried it would be rude.

I'm finally drafted into the NBA. The camera cuts to me in front of a fridge, shoveling cold lo mein into my mouth.

Flaming Hydra has a hundred issues now. What's been really gratifying about this project is how, in each other's orbit but also solitarily, as writers are, we're gradually discovering the full possibility of what we can do together. I'm excited for many hundreds more. flaminghydra.com/issue-100/

I picked the right year to stop writing about the NBA. I feel like somebody who peacefully shuffled off the mortal coil on like September 8th.

I know secret movies aren't new and stars have always been in shit that didn't work, that Paramount dumped in February, but Netflix is producing them at a clip that suggests a deep philosophical commitment to wasting famous people's time.

TCM is the perfect bar channel. It's either playing a good movie like Apollo 13 or The Apartment, or it's some bullshit technicolor Robin Hood adaptation from 1949 that would suck to actually watch but looks really nice on mute for 45 seconds at a time.

Thinking about a less steroidal Randy Savage type who would come to the Port Authority to work the ships, unload windmill parts. One time he drove a forklift by a secluded spot where I was lazing, hiding from work and boomed "I FUCKIN' LOVE IT!" Shot me a thumbs up. I've never felt more like a man.

Rooting for Dirk in the 2011 Finals felt fundamentally generous. Rooting for Luka is just hoping some dumb dickhead you know succeeds in blowing up a police station.

Something crucial this mentions is the distance I felt between the writers I grew up admiring and me stuck somewhere on the other side of the river, toiling on a blogspot, hoping someone would respond to my e-mail, and The Classical arriving to ferry us across. flaminghydra.com/the-zombie-c...
